About
Playfulness and Desire Meet at B-LA-M at OFFUS
An International Art Exchange Oct 28 – Nov 5, 2026
(Los Angeles) - OFFUS, an artist-run space in DTLA’s Bendix building, teams up with B-LA-M, an art exchange created to deepen the relationships between the independent art scenes of Berlin, Los Angeles and Mexico City.
OFFUS founders Alan Joseph Marx and Noel Alumit wanted to create an exhibition that explored themes of playfulness and desire.
“The show falls around Halloween one of the most playful times of the year,” said Alan, “yet it also falls on All Soul’s Day or a time to remember our dead.”
“As gay men,” Noel added, “we thought of lost colleagues, lovers, friends we’ve lost due to HIV or overdose. We wanted to honor them. I think they’d want to see something fun and sexy.”
Contributing artists include Mexican artists David Serrano and Felix d’Eon, German artists Malte Hagen and local German artist Frank O. Maier.
B-LA-M at OFFUS (Bendix Building, 1206 Maple Ave. Space 546, LA CA, 90015) will run Oct. 28 – Nov. 5, 2026 with a special night of celebration on Halloween, October 31, 7pm – 10pm.
